Hauntological Signifiers

A few of the extraordinary images used in the classic 'The Tomorrow People' title sequence.

  1. Although I was absolutely besotted with Dr Who as a child, I found this title sequence (and the music) far more chilling and hypnotising. In later life when I first acquired a video of the series I must have watched the title sequence dozens of times, over and over, reliving those spine-tingling feelings of excitement. Sadly, the accompanying episodes didn't live up to their intros. (Apart from The Red and The Green of course!)

  2. The wonderful Trunk Records have an OST compilation album of the series... Well worth a listen

  3. Wonderful intro and music. If I remember right, I stuck with the Tomorrow People until the end of the 4th series. It all started to get a bit daft. But I still have a soft spot for it.

  4. Such different types of images, and yet, somehow they sort of merge together as one creepy sequence.

I always think that, in a parallel universe, there is a 'Tomorrow People' show which matches the sinister science of these images. I think it's one of the best opening sequences of any show ever.
